This is our presentation that all of us worked on. I hope you enjoy!
Today Claire and Hugo continued working on the presentation but at the end of class, all of us was working on it together. We also asked the cleaning lady where she puts all the recycled plastic and she told us that she put it down in the basketball plastic recycling bins. At lunch time Claire is going to ask Mr. Musco if he knows who picks up all the plastic and where it goes. If he does, we will do further research about that company that picks up the rubbish. I was working on the website, uploading pictures and videos, and Adam was figuring out a way to raise awareness at school without creating posters because we found out that people read the posters but they don’t really take action. We found that tetra pak is a type of marital, that is the material that milk is packaged in, that can be recycled into building material so we thought it would be a good idea to use that at school. Pictures of Tetra PakToday we got all our information on the weebly. We also started our presentation that Claire and Hugo are working on. Adam is finding where the recycled plastic is actually going from our school and if it is actually being recycled. I was working on the home work chart and calculating how much lunch plastic bottle waste are going in the bin and how much we can recycle. Here are the home work chart and the calculations in kilograms. Home Work SheetToday I think we all got a big amount of work done. Hugo helped Claire with finishing the graph about all the information we gathered. in the 2nd of December. Adam and I worked on the life cycle of a plastic bottle and we got it done. Adam is still working out where we will put all of our recycled plastic bottles . I think that is our main goal next time is to get a plastic recycling company to take our plastic bottles to recycle. Claire also send a email to Mr. Dare about what happens to the plastic bottles the school recycles. Life Cycle of a Plastic BottleLunch Time Waste from Middle School on 1/12Today we went down to the basketball court where the grade 11’s collected all the lunch waste yesterday. We first weighed all the plastic, paper and food/cans. We then separated it to recyclable plastic, recyclable aluminum/metal and the non recyclable things. When we came back to the classrooms Claire and Hugo worked on created a graph about all the measurements of the plastic, paper and food/cans and Adam and I worked on the plastic cycle. Pictures from 2/11 Lunch Time Waste SortingToday we started with some research. Then we searched nearly all the classrooms at the school to see if they all had bins for recycling plastic. We found that nearly all the primary classrooms have plastic recycling bins but only a few in the middle/high school classrooms have plastic recycling bins. Here is a graph that Claire put together about how many classrooms have plastic recycling bins at our school. Home Work ChartToday I did some research about plastic bottle. We watch the movies on the grade 7 website. We also came up with a plan that we would try to get a bin so people can throw out their plastic bottles but we would also have to find a place to put all the plastic bottles we collected. Maybe to a recycling company but Adam will find a place. For home work tonight everyone has to do their research about plastic bottles. Here are the videos: How Plastic Bottles are MadeThe Story of Bottled WaterToday we stated our topic. We took some notes of what we are going to do and who has what roles. Claire is the leader and Alice is the reporter. Adam and Hugo are helping. We all talked about what we are going to do why plastic bottles are an issue at our school. Group Photo |
