Today we found facts, answered questions and wrote down what we need to find out to answer some of our questions. Clio did research on recycled paper. The things she researched included the benefits of recycled paper, the costs of recycled paper, and comparisons between regular paper and recycled paper. Michael was looking at facts. He was looking at how trees are involved with paper. Iman and I spent the lesson looking at paper bills from 2009. Even though they aren't from this year, they still gave us a pretty good idea about how much HKA spends on paper. We will be putting the information we have gathered from the bills into a chart next session. Since today we had a shorter class, we couldn't get as much done as we would have liked to, but we were still very productive.
During our first session this project, we were introduced to the project, we got into our groups, we filled out the Big6 sheet, and we came up with a plan. When we were creating our plan, we were working together. For our project, we thought that we should start with questions that we want answered, and what the main question we wanted answered. Once we came up with questions, we started researching the answers. To answer some of the questions, we needed resources from the school. These resources are things like bills, and we weren't able to get those resources yet. Since we didn't have all the tools we need to find all the answers for our questions, we were mainly focusing on the questions that could be answered with internet research. As a group, we decided that the main topic for this project is Recycled Paper vs. Normal Paper. We chose this because one is cheaper than the other, and one is more environmentally friendly. We don't know which one is less expensive, and which one is more environmentally friendly but we want to find these answers. Overall, we didn't have much time to work on the project in groups because the teachers spent a lot of the time explaining the project to us. |
